How We Make Money

Here is the whole thing in one sentence: this site is free to use, and it earns money when a visitor chooses to request a quote and is connected with a licensed agent or insurance partner. Nothing is sold to you here, no page is behind a paywall, and no calculator costs anything.

That arrangement creates an obvious incentive, because we are paid when you raise your hand and not when you read a page and decide to do nothing. We would rather name that plainly than leave you to work it out. Below is where the money comes from, what it does not cost you, the specific things we do to keep the incentive out of the writing, and the parts we cannot fix.

If you would rather not take part in it at all, that is a perfectly reasonable decision. Read the pages, take the numbers, and buy directly from an insurance company or through an agent of your own. Nothing on this site requires you to use our form, and no page is withheld if you do not.

The short version

Where the money comes from

There is no subscription, no paywall and no advertising network selling space between our paragraphs. The single source of revenue is the introduction: when you complete the quote request form, that request goes to a licensed insurance agent or an insurance partner who can quote you, and we are compensated for that connection.

Two details matter more than the general statement, and a disclosure that skips them is not really a disclosure. Here is the honest position. The exact commercial terms behind this site are not published on this page, and arrangements of this kind commonly differ from one insurance partner to another. Rather than ask you to take a number on trust, assume the thing that is always true of any comparison or referral site, this one included: there is a financial incentive attached to you requesting a quote. The question worth asking is not whether the incentive exists but whether the site is built so that it can steer you — and that part you can check yourself.

A quote request can reach more than one licensed agent, so you may hear from more than one. If you want a single call, say so on the first one and ask to be removed from further contact; you can also limit how your details are shared at any point through our Do Not Sell My Info page and our privacy policy. If you would rather not submit anything at all, call (888) 415-8284 and you control who has your number.

What we are not paid to do: we take no money from you, we do not handle or hold premium payments, we do not own or service any policy, and we have no ability to approve, decline or price an application. All of that sits with the insurance company. If a policy you bought needs changing, the number to call is on the policy.

What this costs you: nothing extra

The premium on a final expense policy is set by the insurance company, and its rates and policy forms are filed with state insurance regulators. This site cannot add to a premium, cannot apply a markup, and cannot charge a fee for an introduction. If the policy you are offered is $47 a month, it is $47 a month whether you found the agent here, through a mailer, or by walking into an office. Whatever is paid for the introduction comes out of the marketing and distribution budget on the insurance side, not out of an addition to your bill.

It also means there is nothing to negotiate with us and no discount we can give you. What is genuinely in your control is the product you apply for, the amount of coverage, your honesty on the health questions, and whether you compare more than one offer on cost per thousand dollars of coverage rather than on the monthly figure.

The conflict of interest, stated plainly

We earn nothing when someone reads a page, thinks it through and decides a policy is not for them. That is a real pull toward pushing every visitor at the form, and the sites in this industry that give in to it are easy to spot. Here is what we do about it, so you can check whether we are holding to it:

What we cannot fix is the incentive itself. We are an interested party, so read us as one. Verify anything that matters against your own policy, a written General Price List from a funeral home, and your state insurance department, which will confirm any agent's license for free.

You do not have to use our form

You can buy final expense coverage directly from an insurance company, through an independent agent you found yourself, or through one a family member already trusts. Before you buy anything, it is worth checking what you already have: an employer or retiree policy, a union or fraternal benefit, a policy bought decades ago and forgotten, or veterans burial benefits if you served. Any of those can reduce the amount of coverage you actually need, and our coverage guide walks through that subtraction before it suggests buying a single dollar.

What happens to the information you give us

The information you submit is used to connect you with a licensed agent or insurance partner who can quote you. What is collected, who it is shared with and how long it is kept is set out in our privacy policy, and our do not sell or share my personal information page is how you limit or stop that sharing. You can also tell the agent on the call to remove you, and that should be the end of it.

Two practical warnings. You should never be asked to pay a premium, a fee or a deposit to this website; premiums are paid to the insurance company that issues the policy. And no legitimate agent needs your bank details before you have seen a quote, a company name and the policy you are actually applying for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it cost me anything to use this site or request a quote?

No. The pages, the calculators and the quote request are free, and no fee is added anywhere for using them. We are paid for connecting people who ask for a quote with a licensed agent or insurance partner. You never pay a premium or a fee to this website.

Is my premium higher because I came through this site?

No. The premium is set by the insurance company, and its rates and policy forms are filed with state insurance regulators. We have no way to add a markup or a fee to it. If the policy is $47 a month, it is $47 a month whether you found the agent here or anywhere else.

Do you get paid more for steering me to one insurance company?

We do not rank companies, publish rate tables or recommend a specific insurer, so there is nothing on this site for a larger payment to bias. Which company you end up with is decided in the conversation with a licensed agent, based on your age, your health answers and what is approved in your state. The precise commercial terms behind the introduction are set out in the section above, including whether the amount varies by partner.

Can I buy final expense insurance without going through you?

Yes, and you should feel free to. You can apply directly with an insurance company, use an independent agent you found yourself, or work with someone your family already trusts. Nothing on this site is withheld if you do, and comparing at least two offers on cost per thousand dollars of coverage is a good idea however you get them.

What happens to my information after I request a quote?

It is used to connect you with a licensed agent or insurance partner who can quote you. What is collected, who it is shared with and how long it is kept is described in our privacy policy, and our do not sell or share page is how you limit or stop that sharing. You can also simply ask the agent on the call to remove you.
